ATTN: At this time, we are not issuing any private event permits funtil the Spring of 2021. In the meantime, our parks are open and we welcome patrons to visit and enjoy the outdoors as long as current CDC guidelines are followed. Groups up to 10 people can congregate per CDC regulations in any given outdoor space. To reduce the spread of COVID-19, CDC recommends that people wear cloth face coverings in public settings when around people outside of their household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
Usage of areas in the park is on a first come, first served basis. You may gather in a park but you are not guaranteed any specific space or feature within the park. If a Park District program or a Park District sports affiliate organization with an Athletic Field/Court Permit or Special Event Permit is present, that organization has the right to exclusive use of their permitted area and may ask your group and others to exit the field/court or other permitted area.

Check availability and make your reservation online.
General Use Permits
Attn: Please see notice above. Small groups who would like to hold a casual event (such as a family picnic, birthday party, etc) in a park without a designated picnic area available may apply for a General Use Permit. This permit allows the group to gather in the park, but does not guarantee any specific space or feature within the park (everything remains open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis) including athletic fields/courts, even if the purpose of the event listed on the application is for a pick-up game. Applicants wishing to hold an organized practice, game, etc. of any size must apply for an Athletic Field/Court Rental instead.
While this permit does not guarantee any specific space, it is required by Park District Code and does generally provide restroom access for groups when available as well as help to eliminate having conflicting groups in a park at the same time. Please note that this type of permit is not issued at parks where Picnic Reservations are available (currently Field Park and Taylor Park).
Group Size: Up to 30 individuals
Application Requirements: Completed General Use Permit Application & Application Fee ($10R/$25NR)
Permit Fee: None
