Rehm Pool Diving Tower to be Removed
Built in 1966, the 3-platform diving tower at Rehm Pool is over 50 years old. The cost to repair and maintain the tower continues to grow. The Park District reached a point where we either had to invest more money in repair or remove the structure. The Park Board decided to remove the tower since it is not part of the 2014 community-created pool master plan and was scheduled for future removal. It will be removed in late-April prior to the start of this year's swim season.
The Park District understands that many have enjoyed jumping from the platforms over the past 50+ years. However, over time the condition of the diving tower has deteriorated beyond responsible repair. Only the lowest of the three platforms is currently being used. When the one platform is open, the drop slides and the climbing wall must be shut down. As a result, only one person enjoys the diving well pool at a time rather than four people enjoying the slides and climbing wall.
