Ice Bears Youth Hockey League

Registration for Spring opens March 11th for returning Ice Bears, and March 12th for residents.

Oak Park Ice Bears Hockey

This program is designed for players with experience in the sport who are ready to take their game to the next level. Ice Bears co-ed teams compete against other organizatons as part of the Northwest Hockey League. Ice Bears all girls team competes in NIHL. Players are divided by birth year and evaluated based on skill to produce equal teams at each level where players receive balanced ice time. Each team averages two practices and one game a week in the fall/winter, one day a week in the spring. For more specific information, or if you have not yet participated in Ice Bears, please contact Kayla Lindgren. Players that are evaluated and approved to register will be assigned a skill that allows them to register for the program. Please that have not been given permission to register will not be able to in the system.
 
Mandatory Program Pre-Requisites
 
Pre-Requisites – Mite
New Mite (U8) players must have minimally passed Mighty Cub 4, completed 2 sessions of Skills and Drills, completed 2 sessions of Ice Bear Prep League PRIOR to registering. Players who have not met these requirements will be removed from the roster.
 
Pre-Requisites – Squirt
New Squirt players must have minimally passed Mighty Cub 4, completed 3 sessions of Skills and Drills and Ice Bear Prep, as well have taken Power Skating League PRIOR to registering. Players who have not met these requirements will be removed from the roster.
 
Peewee and Up
Peewees and Bantams must show that they have surpassed the requirements of squirt and their skating and stick handling is strong enough to safely participant in contact hockey. Contact the Program & Operations Manager of Ice Arena for prerequisite information and to set up and evaluation.

Mite: 2014-2015
Squirt: 2012-2013
All Girls Peewee: 2010 – 2013
Peewee: 2010-2011
Bantam: 2008-2009

The Park District of Oak Park also offers recreational youth hockey and adult hockey.
