Book Worms - 4th Thursday of each month, 10:30 am at Cheney Mansion
Challenge yourself by setting a goal to read one new book a month. Enjoy meeting new people and participating in lively discussions about each new book. Books for each month will be on reserve at the Oak Park Public Library.

Travels in Art - 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, 10:30am-12:30pm at Ridgeland Common.
"Travel" throughout Europe and Asia, visiting different countries and the Art that they offer. Learn about art and artists in many different countries. Discussion led by a resident art enthusiast. (NOTE: This program does not meet in December)

Active Adult Trips

The Park District offers a wide variety of low cost trips for Active Adults. Active Adult Trips pick up from Dole Center, Oak Park Arms, and Fox Center. Lunch during trips will be on your own unless otherwise stated in the description.

Drop-in Fitness Classes

seniorfitnessHave you been looking for drop-in classes that fit into your schedule? Check out our Senior Fitness Punch Pass. Punch Passes are available in 10, 20 & 35 punch increments. Each visit to one of these classes counts as one punch! Purchase your pass online, in-person at one of our customer service centers at Ridgeland Common or GRC, or call 708-725-2000. Active Adult Members save 25% on punch passes!

Active Adult Membership is open to ages 50 & up and is valid for a full year from the date of purchase. Oak Park resident’s  membership fee is $48, Non-resident fee is $55. Click here to register today for our Active Adult membership.

This membership entitles members to receive 10% off the resident price for many programs through the Park District, such as Nature and Gardening classes at the Conservatory, Stained Glass & Mosaic, Painting, Drawing, Ceramics, and much more! (Eligible programs are marked with the "AAM Eligible Symbol" in the Park District Program Guide)

PLUS, the Active Adult Membership entitles you to several other benefits, such as

  • Phone in registration!  Members simply contact customer service at (708)725-2000 to register for any program over the phone.
  • 10% off Mindbody Fitness Classes (Monthly, 10 Pack, and Individual)

Active Adult Ambassador

The Park District of Oak Park is passionate about providing quality recreation experiences for the active adults of Oak Park. The Park District currently offers a wide range of activities for adults and seniors, including trips, fitness classes, luncheons, a book club and more. Volunteers specific to the Active Adult program- Active Adult Ambassadors are currently needed for:

  • Interested in history and genealogy? Volunteer to lead interesting conversations on the porch of Pleasant Home!
  • Like discovering new places in your back yard? Sign up to chaperone our active adults on some amazing activities.
  • Enjoy playing cards and/or board games? ask about our new Game Nights held at Pleasant Home!
