Park Passport Program Returns for Summer 2018

The adventure begins June 2.

The Parks Passport program is back with 10 new missions, at new locations throughout Oak Park, and a new prize plan. This program, launched in 2017, encourages kids ages 5-13 to stay active all summer long and explore their local parks. All missions are free and accessible. You can explore a new playground, hit a home run and learn about water conservation. Draw, act and discover how the Park District supports our community and recreation around the world. The new Wellness Boosts will challenge kids to stay active and healthy this summer.

Pick up your Parks Passport at one of these locations: Ridgeland Common Recreation Complex, the Gymnastics and Recreation Center or one of the three Oak Park Public Library locations.

You can also download the Parks Passport here. Once you have your passport, all you need is your sense of adventure to get started.

New this year, complete 1 to 4 missions to receive a summer-themed prize. Complete 5 or more missions to win a free cup of frozen yogurt (with toppings!) from Red Mango. Finish all 10 missions to be entered into a raffle to win a free rink and pool pass for 2019. Turn in your passport to the Customer Service locations at Ridgeland Common Recreation Complex, 415 Lake Street or the Gymnastics and Recreation Center, 21 Lake Street to claim your prizes. Deadline is August 22.

The Oak Park Public Library is a proud Parks Passport program partner. Passports are available at all Library locations. Be sure to pick a Passport up when you sign up for the Library’s summer reading program. In fact, get a head start on your missions by checking out a book and reading in the park. District 97 is also a proud sponsor of the Park Passport program--providing printing and distribution support.

A special thanks to our sponsors Red Mango and Pedios Pediatrics for their support of this fun, summer adventure for kids in our community..

Get out and explore and share your photos and video with us using #pdopPassport on all social media. We can't wait to see what you create this summer. Happy adventuring!

What People are Saying:
“The passport for the parks and all the activities to do there are so much fun. My kids are LOVING the idea and have already mapped out where they are going over the next few weeks to get to all 10! Thank you for helping get their summer off to a great start and for all the thought and creativity that went into developing it!!!”
