PDOP to Participate in Solar Tour

Eight Oak Park sites will be among the more than 100 solar homes and businesses across the state that will open their doors to the public on Sept. 22, 2018 for the Illinois Solar Tour.

Hosted by the Illinois Solar Energy Association (ISEA), the Solar Tour is a free open-house-style event that allows the public to view real-life examples of how local businesses and residents have reduced their utility bills by going solar.

The following Oak Park properties are scheduled to be part of this year’s self-guided tour:

  • 167 Forest Ave. (Austin Gardens Environmental Center)
  • 341 Harrison St. (private home)
  • 415 Lake St. (Ridgeland Common)
  • 613 S. Lombard Ave. (private home)
  • 1139 S. Lombard Ave. (private home)
  • 720 North Blvd. (Avenue Parking Garage)
  • 610 S. Ridgeland Ave. (Longfellow Park Center)
  • 165 N. Taylor Ave. (private home)

The tour also offers an opportunity for participants to gain valuable insights into the costs, processes and economic and environmental benefits of going solar.
