Halloween Events at PDOP
Things are getting SPOOKY this month at the Park District of Oak Park. Programs and events for all ages will get you in the spirit of Halloween!
Friday, October 26, at 6-9:30 & 7-10:30pm
Calling all cats and dames! Join us to be transported back in time to the roaring twenties by the Murder Mystery Co. Don your glad rags and down your giggle water as you solve a mystery of prohibition proportions! Start your evening with small bites at the Cat’s Meow Conservatory, enjoy dinner at the Cheney Juice Joint and finish the evening at Austin Garden’s Speakeasy. Costumes encouraged! Ticket includes food and 2 drinks per person.
Friday, October 26, 6:15–8:15pm
Put your costume on and come to the rink to be spooked out of your skates. Enjoy a ghoulish public skate with all the extras! Compete in a costume contest, play chilling games on the ice, do some creepy crafts, and, of course, eat some candy too! The ice will be decorated like a haunted house with Halloween-themed music.
Fee: $10 or $5 w/season pass (skate rental $3)
Downhill Pumpkin Bowling
Saturday, October 27, 2-4P
Test your aim and get ready to break some pumpkins. We take the classic fall game of pumpkin bowling and kick it up with the addition of the Barrie sledding hill. Compete for pumpkin themed prizes and gourd filled glory. Ages 11-15.
Halloween Movie Day for Kids
Saturday, October 28, 2–5pm
Start your afternoon by creating Eek-o-friendly masks to get in the "spirit" of things. Then, weather permitting, we'll go out to the patio for s'mores and ghost stories by the fire. We'll then go inside, turn out the lights and play a Halloween movie and munch on movie snacks. Each child in your family must be a registered participant. Ages 5-10.
Great Pumpkin Smash
Saturday, November 3, 4–5pm
Don't know what to do with that old pumpkin? All participants will start at the top of Barrie Hill and roll their pumpkins to smithereens. Free and open to the public; no need to pre-register, just show up ready to SMASH! All ages.
