Things are getting SPOOKY this month at the Park District of Oak Park. Programs and events for all ages will get you in the spirit of Halloween!
Saturday, October 13, 7:30-9pm
Join us for a spooky stroll through Austin Gardens...if you dare! Spend the evening strolling through the spooky setting of Austin Gardens, carve or decorate your own pumpkin, get your face painted, enjoy Marshmallows and family friendly ghost stories around the fire and finish the evening with a magic show! Halloween costumes encouraged. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Each person in your family must be a registered participant – ages 2 and under are FREE. Res/NR: $10/$15
Friday, October 26, at 6-9:30 & 7-10:30pm
Join us for a Haunted Trolley ride around Oak Park to discover the mysteries lurking in the parks. Begin at the Oak Park Conservatory for a plant inspired mystery while you enjoy appetizers and small bites, continue on to the infamously haunted Cheney mansion where you’ll enjoy dinner and finish on the spooky grounds of Austin Gardens for dessert. Transportation to and from Austin Gardens back to the conservatory will be provided at the end of the night. Tickets include food and two drinks.
Halloween Decor: Wood Sign Designs

Fright at Night

Join us for the popular annual Fright at Night at the Oak Park Conservatory. The Bootanical Conservatory promises to bring tricks, treats and Halloween fun. Limited tickets will be available at the door, based on availability. Family friendly.

Haunted House & Pumpkin Carving

It’s time for our yearly trip to the Scream Scene Haunted House in Skokie, IL. Get in the Halloween spirit by experiencing the chills and horrors of the chainsaw maniacs, insane clown maze, and more! This year we will also be adding pumpkin carving to the mix. Ages 10-14
Downhill Pumpkin Bowling

Test your aim and get ready to break some pumpkins. We take the classic fall game of pumpkin bowling and kick it up with the addition of the Barrie sledding hill. Compete for pumpkin themed prizes and gourd filled glory. Ages 11-15.
Halloween Scavenger Hunt

A puzzle and scavenger hunt designed to keep players on their toes while they search for answers all over Fox Park. Players will be provided a flashlight and there will be prizes and candy. Ages 11-14.
Friday, October 26, 6:15–8:15pm
Put your costume on and come to the rink to be spooked out of your skates. Compete in a costume contest, play chilling games on the ice, do some creepy crafts, and, of course, eat some candy too!
Fee: $10 or free w/season pass (skate rental $3)
Family Mystery at the Mansion
Sunday September 30, 12-3pm
Now you see them and now you don't! Bring the family to Cheney Mansion to help solve the mystery of Elizabeth Cheney's missing jewels! The Murder Mystery Co. will guide your family through solving and returning these precious gems! A light lunch will be served before your mystery hunt begins! Ages 8+, with adult.
Halloween Movie Day for Kids
Saturday, October 28, 2–5pm
Start your afternoon by creating Eek-o-friendly masks to get in the "spirit" of things. Then, weather permitting, we'll go out to the patio for s'mores and ghost stories by the fire. We'll then go inside, turn out the lights and play a Halloween movie and munch on movie snacks. Each child in your family must be a registered participant. Ages 5-10.
Tricks, Treats & Tails
Sunday, October 28, 2-3:30pm
Dress your prized pooch up for an afternoon of trick or treating around Maple Park, costume contests, music, snacks and more! Fun prizes will be awarded to a variety of our costume contest participants. This program is put on in partnership with the Animal Care League. $5 of your registration fee goes to the Animal Care League. Each dog must be registered in order to attend.
Great Pumpkin Smash
Saturday, November 3, 4–5pm
Don't know what to do with that old pumpkin? All participants will start at the top of Barrie Hill and roll their pumpkins to smithereens. Free and open to the public; no need to pre-register, just show up ready to SMASH! All ages.
