Children use LEGO Mindstorm kits to build their own RMVs (robotic misssion vehicles) from scratch. They build their RMVs from knocked down LEGO™ Mindstorm kits following directions from inter active software on laptops. Before setting out on their adventure, they test its functional capability through systems check on PC, get mission assignments from the Mission Control, analyze the mission on PCs, and finally navigate their vehicles with the remote controller. There are four distinctly different robotic vehicles and most of the participants get to build two. There are 10 missions to choose from. The class provides great opportunity to sharpen robotics and engineering knowhow, and improve their ‘tech-intellect’ working with these LEGO™ kits while doing the trouble- shooting and innovating to overcome situations. Children work in pairs, learning to share and discuss, which embellishes the team work and leadership qualities. Each team is assigned to a complete set of laptop PC and Mindstorm construction kit.
