Monarch Tagging

02:00 PM - 03:00 PM

Oak Park Conservatory
615 Garfield St
Oak Park, IL 60304

Every fall, monarch butterflies east of the Rocky Mountains make an incredible journey to their overwintering sites in Mexico. From Oak Park, that is 1,728 miles! Join us as butterfly enthusiast Janie Grillo explains this amazing event. She will also discuss how citizen scientists assist in learning more about this migration by tagging monarchs for Monarch Watch, a nonprofit education, conservation, and research program based at the University of Kansas. Nature permitting, live monarchs will be tagged and released from the conservatory at the end of the presentation
