Stay active while exploring different neighborhoods in Oak Park. You choose what your goals will be and we'll help you reach them! Group will walk at a moderate pace, and you can decide what distance is right for you. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes, athletic socks and bring a water bottle. The group meets every Monday and Friday at the large rock ("The Pillow") on the east side of Austin Gardens. Warm up and warm down exercises will be furnished along with a pedometer. Walking at a moderate pace for 60 minutes burns stored fat and can build muscle to speed up your metabolism. Walking an hour a day is also associated with cutting your risk of heart disease, breast cancer, colon cancer, diabetes and stroke. Isn't it time to work 1-hour walks into your busy lifestyle? Group will not meet during excessive heat or inclement weather.
