Summer Porch Renovated at Pleasant Home


Guided by historic photographs and in-depth documentation, the year-long restoration of Pleasant Home’s Summer Dining Porch encompassed interior, exterior, and structural improvements. This project, completed in April 2014, highlights the master craftsmanship of many trades including mosaic tile, stained glass, plaster work, and finish carpentry. Visitors to this National Historic Landmark can enjoy the space in its original beauty which reflects the elegance and grace of 19th century architecture. 

The Summer Dining Porch project was funded through an Illinois Public Museum Capital Grants Program managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. For more details visit
