Things are getting SPOOKY this month at the Park District of Oak Park. Programs and events for all ages will get you in the spirit of Halloween!
Saturday, October 7, 6-8pm
Join us for a spooky stroll through Austin Gardens...if you dare! Stop inside to carve your own pumpkin, enjoy apple bobbing and other fun-filled activities. Finish the evening enjoying marshmallows and family-friendly ghost stories around the fire! Halloween costumes encouraged. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Each person in your family must be a registered participant – ages 2 and under are FREE. Res/NR: $10/$15
Halloween Escape Night
Friday, October 13, 7-10pm
Do you dare join us on Friday, the 13th?!? Join us for a scavenger hunt/puzzle challenge done only by Flashlight. Teams will be competing for prizes and candy. Ages 10-14

Join us for a Haunted Trolley ride around Oak Park to discover the mysteries lurking in the parks. Begin at the Oak Park Conservatory for a plant inspired mystery while you enjoy appetizers and small bites, continue on to the infamously haunted Cheney mansion where you’ll enjoy dinner and finish on the spooky grounds of Austin Gardens for dessert. Transportation to and from Austin Gardens back to the conservatory will be provided at the end of the night. Tickets include food and two drinks.

Join us for the popular annual Fright at Night at the Oak Park Conservatory. The Bootanical Conservatory promises to bring tricks, treats and Halloween fun. Limited tickets will be available at the door, based on availability. Family friendly.

Haunted House & Pumpkin Carving

It’s time for our yearly trip to the Scream Scene Haunted House in Skokie, IL. Get in the Halloween spirit by experiencing the chills and horrors of the chainsaw maniacs, insane clown maze, and more! This year we will also be adding pumpkin carving to the mix. Ages 10-14
Friday, October 27, 6:15–8:15pm
Put your costume on and come to the rink to be spooked out of your skates. Compete in a costume contest, play chilling games on the ice, do some creepy crafts, and, of course, eat some candy too!
Fee: $7 or free w/season pass (skate rental $3)

Do not miss this middle school/teen only ice rink event! The rink will be open exclusively to event participants. In addition to skating there will be music, video games, games, and more! Join us for a haunted Halloween at Cheney Mansion as we serve dinner and turn our living room into a movie theater! We will be showing Psycho in comfy furniture to slouch down and get scared. Ages 21+
Eeek-o-friendly Halloween Masks
Saturday, October 28, 3–5pm
Get your scare on by creating Eek-o-friendly Masks at the Austin Gardens Environmental Education Center. We will play spooky music, sip on a creepy creation, while getting creative! Come anytime between 3:00-4:30P to make your mask and have a treat. Registration is required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Each child in your family must be a registered participant. Halloween Movie for Kids

Lunch and a Halloween movie for kids at Cheney Mansion! Send your kids to Cheney Mansion for lunch and to watch Monster House! Cheney is the perfect setting for this wonderful movie about what appears to be a haunted house, but appearances can be deceiving! This is a drop off event. Ages 5-10
Tricks, Treats & Tails
Sunday, October 29, 2-4pm
Dress your prized pooch up for an afternoon of trick or treating around Maple Park, costume contests, music, snacks and more! Fun prizes will be awarded to a variety of our costume contest participants. This program is put on in partnership with the Animal Care League. $5 of your registration fee goes to the Animal Care League. Each dog must be registered in order to attend.
Great Pumpkin Smash
Saturday, November 4, 4–5pm
Don't know what to do with that old pumpkin? All participants will start at the top of Barrie Hill and roll their pumpkins to smithereens. Free and open to the public; no need to pre-register, just show up ready to SMASH! For ages 2 and up.
