FLW Races Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in volunteering! There couldn't be an FLW Race without our amazing volunteers - more than 150 people each year who are not PDOP staff assist in preparations and on event day to make the FLW Races happen!
Please see the volunteer position descriptions below. We request the you select three areas of interest so we can try to accommodate everyone with something that interests them when volunteering for the Races. Ready to sign up as a volunteer?

Please note volunteers may be required to fill out a waiver and/or other forms once assigned to a volunteer position. The volunteer coordinator will reach out to you if necessary.
Volunteer Position Descriptions
PRE-RACE PACKET PICKUP (October 20, 21, or 22)
Distribute race information to runners/walkers in advance of Race Day.
SIGN HANGING (October 22)
Post “No Parking” signs along Race course.
COURSE SECURITY(age 16 and up, starts 6:45am October 23)
Control traffic along the Race course, prevent automobile traffic from passing through the course, and offer alternate routes to drivers. Set up and take down barricades.
PACKET PICKUP& GEAR CHECK (starts 5:45am October 23)
Distribute Race information to runners/walkers. Collect runners’/walkers’ personal items, attach gear check tab (from the runner’s/walker’s race bib), place them in gear check area in race & number order, and retrieve items for runners/walkers after the race.
FINISH LINE HOSPITALITY (starts 6:45am October 23)
Help set out food area before Races finish, assist in handing food to runners/walkers.
WATER STATION INDIVIDUAL(starts 6:45am October 23)
Place & fill water cups, and hand out water to runners/walkers. Prior to race place & fill water cups. Post-race place drinks for runners/walkers. Assist with guiding runners/walkers through chutes.
WATER STATION TEAM(starts 6:45am October 23)
FOR GROUPS OF 8 OR MORE: Place & fill water cups, and hand out water to runners/walkers. Prior to race place & fill water cups. Post-race place drinks for runners/walkers. Assist with guiding runners/walkers through chutes.
MASCOT GUIDE(age 16 and up, starts 7am October 23)
Escort mascots through the Race course, guide to private changing area, etc.
OATMEAL BAR HOSPITALITY (Starts 7:30am October 23)
Collect tickets. Assist cafeteria staff in handing out plates of food, walk around to check and restock condiments as needed, and any other duties as assigned by the cafeteria staff.
GREEN TEAM (starts 7:30am October 23)
Assist participants with sorting recyclables, trash, and compostable items at the finish line.
AWARDS ASSISTANT (starts 8am October 23)
Help with award distribution.
